I can't believe that it is already November! This year has been so busy, but also super exciting and I feel so thankful to be a part of the Wildwood Forest family! This month, I will be visiting each classroom to talk about responsibility. It is so important for every student to understand what it means to be responsible- both in and out of the classroom. Specific grade level activities are listed below:

TOctober is National Bullying Prevention Month! Throughout the month, I will be visiting every classroom to discuss the importance of this month, as well as our Character Trait of the Month: Kindness. It is SO important to be kind to one another, and I wholeheartedly believe that the world would be a better place if people would just be kind! Classroom activities/lessons include:
I will also be starting a few groups throughout the month of October. Groups are great ways for students to meet other students in their grade level and discuss certain topics on a more personal level. Some of the groups running this month include: 1st Grade Skill Building, 3rd Grade Resiliency, 4th Grade Girls Leadership, 5th Grade Girls Leadership, and 5th Grade Boys Leadership! If you feel like your child would benefit from a group experience, please do not hesitate to reach out to me! Happy Attendance Awareness Month! According to Attendance Works, an estimated 5-7 million students will miss a month of school this year. In addition, the National Center for Education Statistics states that students who drop out in high school consistently display high levels of absenteeism throughout childhood, emphasizing the importance of developing strong attendance habits in elementary school. At Wildwood Forest Elementary, we recognize the value in a school day and are proud to provide a well-rounded experience for your students. Whether they are in the classroom, at specials, or at lunch and recess, they are learning skills that will prepare them for life after elementary school. By missing a day of school, they are essentially missing a day of new opportunities. We fully acknowledge that there may be times when your child is unable to come to school due to special circumstances and if that is the case, please review this letter outlining excused absence regulations. To view more information regarding attendance, please check out Wake County Public School System's detailed attendance policy. Let's make this year AMAZING!

The month of September will be a busy one and I look forward to getting to know all of the wonderful students at the school. This month, the character trait of the month is respect. Students will learn what it means to respect others as well as themselves. I will be visiting every classroom to introduce myself, discuss the role of a school counselor, and complete an activity with each grade level. Activities/Topics are as follows:
